Day 34 (D-29) Louis Lamour, Frederic Remington and George Catlin

Louis L'Amour (1908 -1988), a famous American writer of Western novels.  He wrote more than 100 books and 400 short stories.  He is one of the most prolific and popular authors in the world. An American Artist: Frederic Remington























Frederic Remington (October 4, 1861 -December 26, 1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialised in depictions of the Old American West, specifically concentrating on the last quarter of the 19th century American West and images of cowboys, American Indians, and the U.S. Cavalry.

 It's a very well-known cowboy song....and it takes us (and the dogies) to WYOMING.
A famous singer/actor cowboy, Roy Rogers, sings it here in this video from 1940, which I also gave you in Post 31: 

George Catlin (July 26, 1796 - December 23, 1872) was an earlier American painter, author and traveller who specialised in portraits of Native Americans in the Old West.  He worried that the vast herds of buffalo and the Indians who depended on them would someday be gone forever and he called for the creation of a nation's park to save them.  But no one listened.

The group has returned; the blog is back too!

It's already the month of November!  The group flew to the USA on September 7, 2019 and came back to Grenoble on September 19th.  It's time to bring this blog back to life by sharing some of their experience with you. But first, I have a confession to make.  After all this preparation...an unexpected turn of events.  On September 5th, I found myself in hospital with a little health problem which meant that the group left on September 7th, but without me. 😞   You can imagine how disappointed I was! 😞 But c'est la vie. The students had a fabulous trip and I can share some of their photos/videos with everyone. No more waiting!  D-1 means tomorrow we leave!   Today is our last day to get ready, if you aren't ready yet! All our bags are packed and we're ready to go!
